Design Basics

In Debaaj we welcome all types of artists and designers, with a wide range of art styles. However, there are a few key things to consider to optimize your work for print. This page is going to cover it.

Graphics Software

We suggest that you always upload your designs as PNG files with a resolution of 150 at least. This allows for a better print quality on the garment.

Also, we suggest doing your designs on one of these softwares:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • GIMP

*And we know there are alot of designers who use their phones for making their arts. For that we highly suggest making sure to save your artwork on a PC or Laptop to have it in the resolution of 150 (at least) and the PNG format with transparent background.

Using Halftone And Gradients

What you see onscreen may not be what is printed. On screen, when lowering the opacity of elements within your design, the underlying artwork becomes visible. During printing, a white underbase is printed on darker colored products under the artwork and may cause undesired results with transparencies.

Transparent Background

On of the best features of designing in the PNG format is that you can utilize transparent backgrounds. This means you can have the color of the fabric appear through the image.

The image on the left still has a background, while the image on the right has had the background removed.
